Calculating Print Area on a Tapered Bucket

The formula:

Long Version:

  1. Pail circumference (measured at vertical print center) minus Calculated Stretch=Butt Print Length
  2. Butt Print Length minus Desired Gap=Max Print Length
  3. Butt Print Length divided by 2=Front Panel Center to Back Panel Center Measurement
  4. Center to Center Measurement divided by 2=Front (or back) Panel center to Ear Measurement
  5. Max Print Height is determined by allowable print capacity of a particular pail. Could be limited by cylinder travel, tooling or printing equipment.

Short Version:

  • Circumference – Stretch = Butt Length
  • Butt Length – Gap = Max Print Length
  • Butt Length / 2 = Center to Center
  • Center to Center / 2 = Center to Ear (or 1/4 of Butt Length)
